Agenda: Students will determine the theme (or central idea) of chapters 4 and 5 and how it is conveyed. Using details, students will provide a written summary of both chapter. Do Now: What is a theme? (Write three sentences explaining a literary theme). 1. Class Reading of Chapter 4 & 5 (Assignment posted on Google Classroom. Audiobook ) 2. Silent reading of chapters 4 and 5. Students will highlight, underline or or annotate the text to support their summary of each chapter. 3. Analyze a theme that develops throughout the book with the themes in chapters 4 and 5. 3. Write a objective summary of of both chapter, detailing the events that occur, and explaining how those events support the themes that you annotate during your silent reading.
